Dénia, example of good practices worldwide according to a study by the University of Deusto

15 October 2018 - 13: 27

The studio Creative Cities Mapping creative driven cities recently published by the University of Deusto has highlighted the city of Dénia as an example of good practices among the 180 creative cities of UNESCO around the world.

In particular, the study highlights Dénia in the Creative Cooperation section, which also includes projects from Bologna (Italy, City of Music) and Hangzhou (China, City of Crafts). In the field of Gastronomy, only selected cases from Dénia and Parma (Italy) are reflected in the publication. Dénia is also the only one of the Spanish cities of the UNESCO network to which a chapter in research is dedicated.

It stands out that with the project #Dénia&Marina Alta Tastinglife, directly linked to its adhesion to the UNESCO network, "Dénia seeks primarily to protect the local food ecosystem and gastronomic heritage, encouraging gastronomic entrepreneurs and promoting close collaboration within the UNESCO network".

The study has been carried out by the Cities Lab Katedra from the University of Deusto, which researches models, strategies and actions in cities around the world with the aim of enabling new habitats for human development. Its leaders are the director of the chair, Roberto San Salvador del Valle, and professors Anarz Madariaga and Milica Matovic, who have focused on the UNESCO Creative Cities network to identify and select cohesion projects cities, promote internal cooperation, build livable environments or improve their governance.
