The course, sponsored by the City Council of Xàbia and which has had the collaboration of the CA UNED Dénia Observatory for Equality, has been presented by Ms. Raquel Martí Signes, Director of CA UNED Dénia who, in relation to the new context due to Covid-19, has highlighted "New technologies allow us to carry out our task, and in this case our task is training (...) I thank to the speakers of this course who make a virtual effort to share their knowledge with us. ”
After the presentation, he gave the floor to Ms. Montse Villaverde, Councilor for Education and Equality of the Xàbia City Council. The Councilor for Education and Equality has stressed that "For us in these difficult times it is always a pleasure to be able to count on the security that the UNED in Dénia gives us. (…) Xàbia is a child-friendly city and within our Plan for Children, one of the lines of work is parenting, healthy attachment and breastfeeding as positive factors for the development of boys and girls (…) We were clear that if we wanted to transmit this message we had to do it hand in hand with the UNED, which, like every year, surprises us, summer after summer, with some exciting courses (…). ”
The day has opened with the conference “Difficulties in breastfeeding and tools to solve them. How to enjoy breastfeeding ”by Ms. Ana Lisbona Bañuelos, Director of the course, Contracted Professor and Doctor of Psychology at UNED, where the factors that can hinder breastfeeding both individually, socially and in groups have been discussed.
Ana Lisbona has highlighted that "Breastfeeding is a cross-cutting theme throughout pregnancy, childbirth and upbringing (...) it is something wonderful, it is something to be enjoyed" highlighting that it is necessary to have a minimum knowledge for it and emphasizing that It gives the idea that it can be problematic when it does not have to be so if you have that minimum knowledge.
Next, the presentation "The cultural and social context of breastfeeding" by Mr. Francisco José Palací Descals, Professor of Social Psychology and UNED Organizations, who commented that "A key factor in breastfeeding is support of the couple ”, mentioning the study by Rius Peris that found that of the women whose partners were in favor of breastfeeding, 92.4% had provided it compared to 7.6% who continued to prefer artificial milk.
The course will continue until Wednesday, July 22, days in which various topics related to breastfeeding will be discussed.
The course is completed with four hours of materials consultation and active student participation in the virtual course forum.
Registration is still open for the following summer courses: "Unraveling the addicted brain", which takes place from July 22 to 24 in the center of Dénia, and "Music in the key of PSI: Psychology and Music", from 27 to July 29, in the classroom in Benidorm. Both with the possibility of doing them in person, online and on a delayed basis.
