Mental disorders grow as a result of drugs in the Marina Alta

The Psychiatry Service of the Department of Health of Dénia - DSD - has detected an increase in cases of mental disorders caused by the use of psychoactive substances. This is stated by the Head of Psychiatry of the DSD, Katarzyna Kwiatkowska, which also highlights the increase in neurotic disorders with depressive symptoms derived from stress.

The psychiatrists of the DSD have made almost 3.000 consultations in which we have of year. The most prevalent pathology is depression. However, underlines Kwiatkowska, “Only 2,5% of the diagnosed depressions meet the criteria of major depression and the rest are mood disorders that appear in the context of maladjustment to vital circumstances.
