Farewell letter from María Mut (PP) to former socialist councilor Pep Marí

January 17 from 2020 - 11: 29

I met Pep Marí in the City Hall, in the legislature of 2011, and now, I must say that it was a real pleasure that life put him in my path.

I remember him seriously in his work, with great concern for the issues that he had addressed in his councils (government, signage and beaches, especially).

I always remember him with a permanent smile and with a joke of his and a always prepared joke.

With time, life united us as parents of the same class and I had the pleasure of meeting his wife, María José, a lovely woman and her children Aleix and Josep.

Neighbors of the Routes, I remember him proud of the tomato plants that he cared for so much and how tasty tomatoes gave him and he, as exceptional as he was, would prepare a bag for you at home before you knew it, but not before warning you of what you were going to enjoy with his taste.

I also remember many talks about Denia, about what we should and what we should not do, each with its own point of view, but always with a total and absolute respect for the other, looking for solutions and alternatives that will improve our city.

Just a couple of weeks ago we were at his house, with his family, congratulating us on the holidays and wishing us the best for this new year.

And suddenly and unexpectedly, and at the beginning of this year we had just congratulated ourselves, too young, Pep leaves us.

This is the good part of politics: allowing me to meet a great person whom I have admired for his deep dedication to his city and for his absolute dedication to his ideals. In these times when politicians are so disgusted, I must remember people like Pep Marí, a sign of good people and good friends and respect and tolerance for all points of view.

Rest in peace, friend Pep. From les Rotes, especially in the walks where we stopped to do "the xarraeta", we will miss you.
