07 December 2023 - 15: 42

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, today made his first official visit to the Dénia City Hall, where he was received by the mayor of the city, Vicent Grimalt, by the vice mayor, Rafa Carrió, and by the councilors of the municipal Corporation.

Upon his arrival, after taking a photo with the entire team of the corporation, the President signed in the city's book of honor where he wrote: “From the honor of signing in this book for the first time as President of the Generalitat, I visit the Town Hall of my beloved Dénia again. With the same affection as always and with the renewed commitment to a joint path of development and future for the social rights and progress of the capital of the Marina Alta”. After signing the book of honor, Carlos Mazón has received from Vicent Grimalt the facsimile edition of the city title granted to Dénia in 1612 by Philip III.

According to Vicent Grimalt, "today is a very important day for the people of Dénia since they visit us for the first time on an official visit as President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, and I am very happy because we have been talking about many important topics for the city that we had pending in relation to the Generalitat, and with the different Departments. I am convinced that the Generalitat and the City Council will continue to work together to improve the lives of the citizens of Dénia and to implement the infrastructure we need."

Reversion of the Regional Hospital

In the meeting that the President of the Generalitat had with the mayor and vice mayor of Dénia, they discussed topics such as the imminent health reversal of the Hospital de Dénia, “which in two months will be under public management of the Generalitat” commented Vicent Grimalt.

Tram and commuter trains

The political leaders have also talked about the Dénia-Gandia tram, not only the tram, but the commuter train, and the port of Dénia, which the mayor considers to be something very important for Dianense society. For Carlos Mazón, the Dénia-Gandia tram is a priority issue that "both the City Council and the Generalitat are convinced that we have to maintain the demand for the necessary proximity to the government of Spain, but we do not know what the evolution will be, because we do not It depends on us. Our intention is to walk together, to work together with the town councils of Dénia and Gandía and with the municipalities that are between the two cities to be able to move forward together and to make the tram a reality this term."

Edificant Plan

They have also talked about the Edificants Plans, which are pending completion, whose priority Vicent Grimalt has commented is a modification of the credit that must be made for the construction of the new Raquel Payá Special Education IES, since the region needs a building very much. more suitable than the one that exists now. Carlos Mazón commented that "he is very happy that the priority for Dénia is the new special education center and that it is no longer the health situation."

Mazón has declared that “the Department of Education is already studying two issues, on the one hand, the modification of the credit for the new Raquel Payá special education center, and on the other hand, the Vocational Training facilities focused on sea trades, that have a development of high employability, and that we have to promote, although we are still studying various options for their possible location, but that after Christmas “The topic will be taken up again, to finish it off.”

Residences, festivals and Convent

On the other hand, at the meeting they also talked about the second residence for the elderly and the reversion of the current residence that Dénia has, the Santa Lucia residence. Likewise, topics such as Festival of the Humanities and the DNA, and the Jesús Pobre convent, “a project that the previous legislature that the Generalitat did not complete its processing and the commitment of the current President to resume all the management of the file so that it finally becomes a reality and the Jesús Pobre Convent becomes public property. It is a building, and if in the end it is managed to pass into the hands of the public administration, at the regional level it will have a very great importance, and above all for the protection of the heritage of the building that is many centuries old," declared the mayor of Dénia.

Carlos Mazón has confirmed that “the issue of the acquisition of the Jesús Pobre convent by the Generalitat is going to be taken up again, it seems to us that it is an emblem, that it has to be a reference and we will visit it shortly. From the general directorate of heritage we have resumed the process so that the Convent is classified as an asset of cultural interest.”

Port Denia

“It is essential to understand the uniqueness of the port of Dénia,” said the president, “it is not just another port in the Valencian Community, and therefore I want to give it that prominence and that special attention. It is a priority that Dénia is connected to all the Balearic Islands and the entire Mediterranean. We must also work on the northern access, so that we can grow in sustainable conditions.”

Denia's problem is communications. The more they improve with Valencia (sorry Alicante) the better.

  2. Roy says:

How many times do we have to hear about this Dénia to Gandía tram/train There was a train line that was removed that is now part of the “via verde” out of Denia Does this council think the people of Denia are idiots Please don' t insult our intelligence It took forever to replace the lines and re-in force bridges etc on a tram This will not happen in Grimalt's lifetime or mine Dream on !!! Concentrate on the real issues in Denia
