Caritas Interparroquial Dénia closed last 2015 helping a total of 839 people in Denia, a figure that represents more than a hundred people attended at least 2014, but still reflects the precarious situation faced by many families around us.
Of this total, 51% were Spanish, continuing the trend already observed in 2014 of declining foreign users, mostly because their return to their countries of origin.
In 2015 the user profile Dénia Caritas has been largely that of a woman alone, with minor dependent children; but they have also highlighted families with children in their care and especially the elderly who have welcomed home their children and living on a pension.
Caritas aid these families results in various services, because as says its coordinator in Dénia, Siro Gómez, "Caritas is not just providing food". Denia, help through the Service Shelter, where volunteers detect deficiencies users at all levels. They also offer their help through the Commissary Solidario, offering the opportunity to purchase food for the 50% of its value, which gives the opportunity to dignify members of the NGO. Caritas Interparroquial Denia also has a wardrobe solidarity that families flock to buy clothes for the season; and an advisory service job search, teaching users to prepare a resume or know how to be in a job interview.
Currently is working for the implementation of a solidarity garden that allows users to have an occupation and organic products benefit from being planted, as already happens in Xàbia.
The report was presented by the coordinator of Cáritas Interparroquial Dénia, Siro Gómez; the president of this year, Miguel Gavilà; and the coordinator of Vicariate number 8, Olga Mestre, who also reviewed the situation in the region in general.
In 2015, Cáritas helped throughout the Marina Alta, with the exception of Calpe, to a total of 3.363 people through the different services offered to the community.
