The municipality of Villanueva de Viver (Castelló), in the l'Alt Millars region, has suffered a major fire since yesterday, in whose extinction the Military Emergency Unit is already participating.
The magnitude of the fire during the last hours has caused several fire departments from the Alicante Provincial Fire Department Consortium to come out to double their efforts in the extinction work. Specifically, there have been three teams, starting from the parks of Dénia, Sant Vicent and La Montaña, in Cocentaina.
After midnight, the teams have met to make themselves available to the Advanced Command Post of the firefighters in the province of Castellón. As reported by the Provincial Consortium of Alicante Firefighters, the "convoy currently does not have a set date for the end of the collaboration and will be willing to do what the fire management commands have."
The fire has been classified by the Emergency Coordination Center as Situation 2 of the Special Plan for Forest Fires, which could seriously affect the population and non-forest assets. For this reason, several municipalities in the area have already been evacuated due to the proximity of the flames. The latest data from the Generalitat put the area devastated by the fire in Villanueva de Viver at more than 1.000 hectares.
