The team of Veterans of the BOGA club del Mar has moved this weekend to the waters of the Ebro in Zaragoza to face great teams from Aragon and Navarra. With the main objective set in preparation for the Spanish Rowing Championship of Yolas to 4 to be held on the last weekend of October in Asturias, this regatta was an excellent opportunity to continue adapting to river waters and their currents .
Very soon they had the opportunity to verify the difference between rowing in our Mediterranean and doing it in the river. The qualifying race was paddled by the outer street, very close to the shore, where the currents were more irregular and intense. The result was a fourth place to a single second of the third parties, which meant not being able to dispute the final A and move on to the final B.
Already in the final B, and this time with more luck in the street raffle, they were able to demonstrate their ability to overcome by winning the sleeve with authority and performing what was considered by the judges as the best turning maneuver, ciaboga, of the Weekend. Finally the improvement from one sleeve to another was evidenced by leaving the third fastest time on the stopwatch, ahead of the third in the Final A.
“We always give great importance to the ciabogas because we know that they will give you the result or they will take it away from you. There are three turns per race and that has a radical influence on the final result "commented the helmsman, Susana Mut. “Although people always talk about how good or bad the ciaboga has been doing this or that helmsman, nothing is further from reality. The helmsman marks the times and directions, but the maneuver only goes well if everyone, the four rowers and their helmsman, each perform their work perfectly and in perfect synchrony, there is no other way, this is a team 100% sport ".
