Three centers in Dénia, Cervantes, Montgó and Paidos this academic year 2021-2022 have joined the educational project 'L'Escola canta', a musical project aimed at students and teachers of primary schools, whose objective is to support the Linguistic Normalization Plans of each center educational.

It is, therefore, an initiative designed to promote the social use of Valencian as a tool for coexistence through the interpretation of a cantata, El corazón de la Tierra, created expressly for the project by Pablo Anglés, director and composer (music) and Ximo Montañés. (lyrics), teacher and director of the Artistic-expressive CEFIRE.

'L'Escola canta' also has a cooperative nature that allows students and teachers to be in contact with music bands, entities that collaborate with the project and that are highly relevant in the cultural life of Valencian towns and cities . Dénia City Council supports the initiative by providing the necessary infrastructure to carry out the concert.

In Dénia, a total of 153 schoolchildren, accompanied by the Musical Artistic Group, will perform the cantata The Heart of the Earth on Saturday, June 4, at 20:30 p.m., in the Plaza de la Constitución.

El cor de la Terra combines music, choral singing, choreographic movement and theatrical scenes. The lyrics of the songs address a very current theme: the climate emergency that the planet is suffering and each song represents a different musical style.

The opening, entitled save the mon, is a waltz, followed by the pieces Mars de plàstic (reggae-calypso); Plant a Tree (pop-rock), Bicycle Planet (ska), This Can Be Changed (soul) and The Heart of the Earth (anthem).

The theatrical part is filled with brief and humorous dialogues that advance the piece between song and song while at the same time inciting reflection and individual and collective reaction to turn the situation around.

The project 'L'Escola canta' is an educational initiative that was born from the hand of the Department of Education of the Castellón de la Plana City Council and the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana in the 2017-2018 academic year.

The objectives that inspire him are to promote musical teaching and cooperative work through the interpretation of musical works; improve linguistic competence in Valencian among primary school students; promote knowledge of the traditional Valencian musical repertoire, as well as that of other cultures and promote collaboration between entities and administrations to create quality cultural works and display them in society.
