"Stop deceiving people": Grimalt accuses the PP Dénia of lying "promising gold and Moor"

26 2023 April - 12: 33

This morning, the PSPV has presented its economic program for the next municipal elections in Dénia, where it has harshly criticized the promises that the PP made last week also in the economic area. Specifically, Pepa Font's party promised a 20% tax cut, something that the PSPV not only does not see as feasible, but considers it a ploy to get votes "promising gold and Moor."

Vicent Grimalt, candidate for mayor of the PSPV, has pointed out that the only party that has always raised taxes when it has governed in Dénia is the PP, and has wondered where they will get the resources to make that promise possible. Grimalt has asked the PP for explanations about everything they would do without to achieve that reduction that they consider false, and that would mean suppressing aid, eliminating agreements with groups, schools, clubs, and endless other cuts. The PP answered the question during his last appearance, indicating only some of the examples of cuts, which would be represented in the heading of miscellaneous expenses, representation, travel... and reducing the creation of surplus. "That they stop deceiving people," the socialist leader has demanded.

For his part, Paco Roselló, current Councilor for Finance of the Dénia City Council and Grimalt's listmate, has defended the words of the current mayor, providing data and pointing out that the PP approved in the last popular legislature the rise in IBI by 28% and 23% of the garbage rate. In addition, he has put on the table what that 20% tax drop would mean: 9.366.000 euros that the City Council would do without.
