03 October 2022 - 15: 22

On the occasion of the Creative Cities meeting held last week, the guests Tangier (Morocco) and Tours (France) were able to enjoy one of the best weekends in Dénia, the celebration of the D*na Festival.

Tangier considers joining the UNESCO Network

The city of Tangier was represented by its deputy mayor, Nafissa Laroussi, and the head of the Department of Culture, Abdenweri Laamiri, who told the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, its willingness to establish collaboration agreements in cultural and social matters.

They also met with Ricard Pérez, from the Fundación Baleària, shipping company that maintains a direct line between Algeciras and Tangier. In this interview, different actions were proposed in the three main areas on which the foundation's actions are focused: Culture and Sports, Environment and Social Cooperation. There was also talk of taking up initiatives to help children in which the Foundation Baleària had previously intervened in the city of Tangier.

After sharing the cultural agenda and interviews with the representatives of the different Spanish cities present at the Dénia meeting, the delegation from Tangier announced that it intends to articulate a project to present a candidacy for admission to the UNESCO Network.

Tours interested in fighting gender violence in Dénia

For its part, the city of Tours corresponded to the outstanding presence that Dénia had at its annual fair, one of the five largest in France, with the visit of Elise Pereira Nunes, deputy mayor, and the directors responsible for Major Events, Christian Vidal, and from International Relations, Marie Bernard Amirault.

As a delegate for Equality, the councilor was especially interested in holding a job interview with the councilor for Citizen Security, Javier Scotto, and local police officers, with whom the local actions in the fight against gender violence and protection of rights on sexual diversity were addressed.

The French delegation also paid attention to aspects of the organization of the D*na Festival and projects related to local gastronomy. Tours is one of the four cities that make up the internal network of Cities of Gastronomy in France and is developing a large regional gastronomic center with institutions dedicated to research, training and the protection of its food culture and heritage.
