Dénia, waiting for the aid line of the Generalitat to develop the Castle Master Plan

17 September 2018 - 10: 00

The expected Master Plan of the Castle of Dénia is closer to being a reality. The City Council of Dénia, through its municipal archaeologist, Josep Gisbert, has confirmed that they will adhere to the aid line of the Generalitat Valenciana for the preparation of the document.

Last Friday, during the visit of the Director General of Culture and Heritage, Carmen Amoraga, to the House of the Marquesa Valero de Palma, Amoraga herself said that the bases of this line of aid will be published in 15 days. Thereafter, the City Councils that wish may join and receive technical and economic support to develop the Master Plan.

The Master Plan will allow creating a road map of the monument, thus creating a global project of activities and improvement actions to be carried out in the main historical emblem of the city of Dénia.

Works in the Alt Verger and the Eastern Bastion

During the visit of the Director General, the investment of 375.000 euros in the restoration of the high orchard and the eastern bulwark was recalled. The 50% will be paid by FEDER funds destined to the recovery of cultural heritage.

The action consists of the conditioning of the way of descent to the eastern bastion with the repair and consolidation of the retaining wall of the esplanade. The operations will include the enhancement of the passage from the castle esplanade to the descent path and the descent plane.

On the eastern bastion, the works are destined to the recognition of their factories, to the consolidation and to the definition of the wall. In addition, in the set of platforms located to the south of the high orchard will be carried out archaeological excavations, the consolidation of the remains and their value.
