Caravan or camper tourism is becoming more and more present in Dénia, which, since the City Council made a differentiation between parking and camping months ago, has been imposed above all on the coast. This has forced the council, in order to avoid friction with the neighbors, to modify the municipal traffic ordinance. Here we review the most notable novelties.

What is considered parking?

When we talk about motorhomes or camper vehicles, it is considered to park the use of the vehicle without deploying any element that exceeds the perimeter of the vehicle.

A dwelling vehicle is considered parked and not camped when:

• It is in contact with the ground only through the wheels, not with stabilizer legs or other contraptions.
• It occupies no more space than the vehicle in motion: no open projecting windows or any external equipment.
• There is no fluid emission, except for those typical of engine combustion through the exhaust pipe.
• It does not emit annoying noises for the neighborhood or users of the parking area.
• The elevation of ceilings or the activity that takes place inside is irrelevant, if it does not transcend to the outside.

Maximum parking time or prohibition

The maximum parking time on urban roads for these vehicles is 48 hours in a row, and 24 hours in a row on the beachfront in a period of 7 days from the parking thereof, unless expressly prohibited.

How to carry out the maneuvers?

Home vehicles can stop and park on urban roads, under the same conditions as any other vehicle, provided that:

• Do not hinder the movement of other road users in any way.
• Do not constitute any type of risk for other road users.
• Stay within the road markings that define the parking lot.
• Prevent it from moving in the absence of the driver.

What is considered camping?

The use of the vehicle with the deployment of elements that exceed the perimeter of the vehicle.
