Parties - Christmas

Santa Claus and the Three Wise Men will meet in Dénia: a Christmas "like before"

10 December 2021 - 11: 34

Christmas has finally arrived in Dénia and the City Council presents the Christmas program that it has prepared, especially for the smallest of the house. For this reason, the activities prepared by the Party Council, in collaboration with other local entities and departments, revolve around the children of Dénia, although it also includes initiatives for families and the adult public.

Collection of letters

Today Friday, December 10, we will already be able to see in the streets the magic mailboxes to leave the letters of wishes addressed to Santa Claus or the Three Kings. The mailboxes will be placed in the Pais Valencià roundabout, the Arxiduc Carles square and the Mariana Pineda square.
Starting on December 17, the Christmas figures made by local Fallas artists will be distributed in eleven places in the city.

Whoever writes the letter in Valencian can take it from today to the Municipal Library on Sant Josep Street, the Children's Library of the House of Culture, the Jesús Pobre reading agency and the Xara town hall. In this way, they will be able to participate in a raffle organized by the department of Linguistic Normalization of the town hall.

Today is also the day chosen to decorate the Plenary Hall of the town hall. This year, for the first time, the decoration will feature the winning nativity scene of the last edition of the school birth contest (2019), made by the Llebeig school.

Nit de la Llum and solidarity

On Saturday, December 11, the Christmas lighting and the Nit de la Llum celebration will take place. This initiative seeks to promote purchases in local businesses, for this reason the center is filled with more than 7.000 lighted candles that give a magical and Christmas atmosphere during that afternoon-night.

The program is completed with dance and music performances, escape room, children's theater and cinema and, in the sports field, the traditional San Silvestre and the “Roscón de Reyes” race organized by Marina de Dénia.

The solidarity activities are also numerous. For his part, Mercat Municipal will return to 'plant' the Christmas tree "Capacitats sobre rodes", decorated with shopping carts that will be raffled off among the customers the 15 6 December to January. Also, the Local police will organize a day to collect necessities that will later be delivered to the Solidarity Table. This year will be the December 23, from 09:00 to 13:00, at the crossroads of Calle de la Vía and Diana.

Santa Claus and Three Wise Men

Finally, three unavoidable events in the program are: the collection of letters from Santa Claus on December 23, from 17:00 p.m. to 20:30 p.m., from Diana Street to the Plaza de la Constitución; the arrival of the Royal Mailmen on January 2, from 17:00 p.m. to 20:30 p.m., from the roundabout to the Plaza de la Constitución; and the Three Wise Men parade on January 5, starting at 18:00 p.m. This will leave the port and will cross Marqués de Campo and Diana to end up in Calle de la Vía.

The party councilor, Óscar Mengual, appeals to everyone's responsibility when celebrating these parties "with the utmost prudence and security, but trying to enjoy themselves, especially the little ones."

"Fortunately, the health emergency situation has improved compared to last year, but we cannot lower our guard," added the councilor. "Under this premise, all the events have been organized and now it is everyone's business to enjoy them meaningfully," Mengual pointed out.

Finally, the councilor has recalled the obligation to reserve tickets and invitations in some of the planned activities and has begged the population to avoid crowds and use the mask when necessary.
