It is time to leave behind the "faggot who does not boat". In 2022, Dénia seeks to shelve traditional forms of discrimination at parties. And not only that, but it has also targeted the daily, accepted and even silenced violence that occurs in these celebrations, "because they are parties."
It's a sad reality: parties encourage obnoxious behavior. However, now is not the time to hide behind alcohol or any other flimsy excuse. It is time to point out and denounce those actions that are not very festive.
The Department of Equality of Dénia, to this end, has relied on the Federation of Moors and Christians, the Fallera Local Board and the Department of Festivals to write two decalogues for festivals without violence or discrimination in the city. These will be disseminated by all possible means, being posted in houses, chambers, peñas sentry boxes and other places near the celebrations, in order to put an end to sexual discrimination and sexual assaults in the most dangerous dates.
The objective is "to fight against violence that occurs underground at parties," said the councilor for the area, Javier Scotto, this afternoon. It is an "important project to achieve festivals of respect and equality," added Sonia Pérez, president of the FEMMICC.
The Decalogue can also be found and downloaded from the Diversity section, which from today is available to everyone at Dénia City Council website. "For the first time [the City Council] puts all the information on diversity at the service of citizens," Scotto announced.
