Fundació Baleària promotes rowing at Port Vell in Barcelona

The Reial Club Marítim de Barcelona and Fundació Baleària have signed a collaboration agreement that will help develop the rowing sports project in Port Vell, and which 1902 leads this Barcelona entity.

Within the framework of this agreement, the Fundació Baleària will make a contribution that will allow the acquisition of a boat of eight rowers plus a helmsman, an 8 +, which is considered the queen of this sport with such iconic events as the famous regatta Oxford- Cambridge. Thanks to this new boat, the Fundació Marítim will be able to give the Reial Club Marítim de Barcelona the right material to develop a good part of its rowing project in Port Vell.

Sonia Güell, vice-president of the Reial Club Maritim de Barcelona, ​​highlighted the generosity of Baleària that "will allow us to take a great step in the development of our sports project in this centenary discipline in the Port of Barcelona, ​​as well as a very good opportunity to generate common collaborations"On the other hand, the manager of the Fundació Baleària, Ricard Pérez, highlighted the will of the shipping company "Support initiatives that enhance health and sports practice, in line with the entity's project, which also participates in social, cultural and environmental projects".

Baleària will give name to the emblematic Barcelona boat competition of 8 + known as Barcelona City Rowing International Trophy and that, this year meets 24 editions. It will be called City of Barcelona International Rowing Trophy - Copa Baleària.
