After a couple of months of works in the middle of summer, during the first fortnight of August the City Council presented the new Camí de Sant Joan with the announced improvement of accessibility for pedestrians.

The sidewalks were widened, adding 1,2 meters in width, and the tree pits, but it was also decided to raise the entrances for cars in the parking areas that were located on the sides of the road. This last decision was highly criticized from the first day by both neighbors and the opposition, since the ramps were extremely high with just inches of gradual elevation, which grated almost all under the vehicles that wanted to access the place. They were practically curbs.

After these works, which amounted to € 112.000, financed by the Alicante Provincial Council, 7 months later they again give order to the machinery to rectify this excessive elevation.

The City Council declares that the initial design of the sidewalks in the redevelopment project was aimed at prioritizing the passage of pedestrians and giving it continuity with a greater regularity of the route. "Proven problems associated with the height of the sidewalks for vehicles, when accessing the parking and joining the road"They admit from the consistory, so "the sidewalks are going to be lowered at these points".

The entrances for the cars will now be asphalted at the same level as the street and will have a width of 5 m, once some works that have a 3-week execution period are finished.
