Adecenta City Hall solar archaeological remains Loreto Street

The City of Dénia has carried out this week cleaning work on the existing site between the streets Cavallers and Loreto in which were found remains of Arab baths and Almohads in the year 2014.

After a management by the mayor, it has agreed with the owners of the solar cleaning the area and removing the fences, so that passersby can see the archaeological remains dating from the eleventh century until it decides build new.

In this way discovered fences have been installed that can see perfectly the remains found in this solar indicating a tour of the streets of the Medina Andalusí similar to the current in that area. The municipal archaeologist, Josep Gisbert, explained to this website that within twenty days on the remains informative panels will be installed to report on what you see there.

En March 2014 archaeological excavations brought to light remains two almohades homes dating from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries of which there is a central patio that structures and two annexed rooms. Thanks to these excavations, the municipal archaeological service could verify that Loreto street has its origin in the 11th century urban layout, as well as the main street and other transversal ones. Until the moment it was thought that its origin dated from the time of the king Felipe III (XVI and XVII centuries).
