Compromís proposes that Dénia join the Valencian Agency for the Protection of the Territory

02 June 2021 - 15: 11

Compromís proposes in the City Council of Dénia that it adheres, as some cities such as Alacant have already done, to the Valencian Territory Agency, an autonomous body of the Generalitat dependent on the Department of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility that assumes the powers of the Generalitat in the matter of restoring the urban legality of Non-Urbanizable Land (SNU) and that it can assume those that the City Councils have as long as they are transferred to it.

The motion urges that these powers be delegated in terms of protection of urban legality, sanction and restoration of urban legality, with respect to serious or very serious urban infractions on undeveloped, common or protected land of the municipality, as well as participate in decisions of the aforementioned organism through the representation councils.

The adhering city councils may form part of the AVPT's Board of Directors and may also assign powers regarding violations prior to the agreement and against those when they have not initiated a file to restore legality.

According to Rafa Carrió, spokesman for the municipal group, “from the Autonomous Secretariat for Territorial Policy, which Compromís holds, the AVPT has been launched to consolidate the commitment to a rational and legal use of the territory, free of mortgages imposed by private interests , as well as to cut the infractions and stop them before they are in a more advanced state ”. In addition, he has defended that "freeing himself from the urban discipline in SNU would be a discharge for the Dénia City Council, which will be able to devote more resources to other urban tasks, such as speeding up licenses and procedures".

This motion will be presented to the local Territory commission for debate and approval, and for the adhesion to be effective, a plenary agreement will have to be adopted.
