The jury of the Dénia City Council nativity scene contest has awarded the first prize of the 2022 edition to the installation of the Scientia Dénia school (you can see all the participating nativity scenes at this link). The awards were handed out by the mayor, Vicent GrimaltAnd the Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars, in a ceremony held yesterday at the Llebeig school. As explained by the winning center, they wanted to wink at the present by incorporating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the assembly.

The second prize has been given to the Cervantes public school, with a proposal for an underwater nativity scene with references to Posidonia, and the Llebeig school is the winner of the third prize, with a mosaic proposal with stones and sand.

In addition, the jury has awarded the Montgó school recognition for innovation; to the center Raquel Payá, of the effort; and to the Maristas school for the preservation of tradition.

To evaluate the participating groups, creativity (design), setting (light, sound and music), involvement and participation of students and innovation (new technologies) have been taken into account. In the award ceremony, the great innovation and effort made by all the schools this year, 27 years after the creation of the contest, have been highlighted; reason why the centers are encouraged to continue in this line.

Christmas card contest

In the same act, the prizes were awarded to the boys and girls who won the Christmas card contest that the Department of Education convenes every year. This year's winner is Pablo Lara Sáez, from fifth grade at the Maristas school.

In second place was the student from CEIP Llebeig Alesia Volkova, followed by Bárbara Seguí, from the Maristas school, with third prize, and Marco Stafan from the Raquel Payá school, in fourth position.

In addition, 52 second prizes and 22 special mentions have been awarded. The jury has determined that this year, due to the level shown, five Maristas schoolchildren are finalists: Elsa Torrens, David García, Sara Caravaca, Alex Fluxà and Alejandra Calonge.

More than 500 schoolchildren from the Cervantes, Montgó, Pou de la Muntanya, Llebeig, Raquel Payá and Maristas San Juan Bautista schools have participated in this edition of the card contest.

The Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars, has highlighted "the high level of quality" of the drawings presented. Last year's winner, Nicolás Serer Durá, from the Pou de la Muntanya school, was also remembered. His drawing has been used by the Consistory in its Christmas greetings and for the posters with the programming of these holidays.
