Since last November, the circulation tests have been carried out on the new train tracks in Dénia. However, until now it was unknown when the service that already disappeared from the city six years ago could be used again.
Finally, it will be on January 16 when the Dénia - Gata de Gorgos - Benidorm section of Line 9 of the TRAM d'Alacant will be definitively opened to the public. Thus, a service highly demanded by the different populations is recovered, which will allow Dénia and the rest of the region to recover the railway connection and which will contribute to improving the structure of the province and responding to the mobility needs of citizens.
In total, the Generalitat has invested more than 150 million euros in modernization work on this line, which has also been financed with contributions from European funds.
During the first months of service, for technical reasons, the trains will run between Benidorm and Teulada, a town where there will be a change of train to dual electro-diesel units, which will already be waiting for passengers at said station to continue on. agile way until you reach Dénia, whose route is already on the tramway.
During the tests carried out in the last two months by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), the gauge of the entire route has been verified, the correct functioning of the ATP (Automatic Train Protection) system, and the Corresponding training of the drivers who will drive the new dual units (electric and diesel) and who will provide service on this section. In addition, since October, conditioning works are also being carried out on the Dénia TRAM d'Alacant workshop building to adapt facilities that were in disuse and that from now on will be able to accommodate the new L9 dual trains .

It occurred to them to join the Levante and coastal area with a normal width railway.
