The Plaza María Hervás is designed to be one of the most important meeting points in the centre of Dénia. Its construction and design, however, are not free from controversy. Disturbances due to the works, constant delays and a finish that has been harshly criticised by some sectors of the opposition. But what was most demanded was the lack of vegetation and trees to be a new space for passage and rest. A green area that it already has from today.
This morning, the square was filled with workers in green uniforms who replaced the majority of workers who had spent so many months in the place. It was the gardening brigade in charge of giving the Plaza María Hervás a green touch. Although calling it “green” at the moment is premature.
They have started to unload the trees that will be in the area from a truck. For the moment, they are little more than trunks. We will still have to be patient for them to start sprouting and filling with leaves to offer shade beyond the artificial shade provided by the automatic awnings available in the square. In addition, more vegetation is expected. as the original sketches promised and the many planters that the place has.
Opening date
This is expected to be the final step of the long-drawn-out project, which is expected to come to an end and open to the public in the next few days. Although there is no official date for its inauguration, it is speculated that it could happen this week.
