Ximo Puig announces the sanitary measures for the next fortnight

29 June 2021 - 13: 53

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has appeared before the media to announce the health measures that will be in force in the Valencian Community from July 1. Now, these will only last 2 weeks, and not the entire summer as expected.

The expected relief from the current restrictions will have to wait, since the interdepartmental council of the Generalitat has decided to extend the current health framework for another fortnight. This will enter into force on July 1 and will remain until Thursday, July 15.

It was expected that the president would specify measures that would be maintained throughout the summer, but the increase in incidence due to end-of-year trips has forced them to bet on prudence and keep all restrictions practically as they were.

Changes to the new measures

The Generalitat has also announced that it will include a recommendation for the use of the mask in all areas, also outdoors, except on the beach or in natural areas.

Another big change is regarding the festive or home venues. After the pressure of the festive groups, the Generalitat has finally yielded and will allow the opening and closing of the houses at any time, according to the regulations of each city council. In the same way, the use of an activity outside the administrative one will be allowed as before. Therefore, drinks or food can be consumed inside, but if this is the case, the allowed capacity will drop from 75 to 50% and the tables can only be occupied by 10 people.
