04 March 2019 - 21: 01

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has officially announced this afternoon the advancement of the regional elections to next Sunday, April 28, thus making the electoral appointment coincide with the general elections called by Pedro Sánchez.

The president of the Generalitat has announced the advance of regional elections for "place the Valencian Community at the center of Spanish politics and open a new stage as first-rate autonomy". In this sense, Puig has announced his decision to use the "tool" that grants the Statute to claim "the rights that by justice belong to us and the place in Spain that belongs to us as a people".

With this decision, which has already communicated to the president of les Corts, Enric Morera and the president of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, the head of the Consell becomes the first president to exercise this competence reserved for historical communities, and that allows the Statute of Autonomy.

The head of the Consell has stressed the importance of singling out the Valencian Community and has been convinced that the decision to advance the elections favors the aspirations of Valencia and Valencia "have your own political space before ourselves and the rest of Spain".
