The final match of the season for the first-tier senior team ended with a hard-fought away win in Algemesí. With this result, the team secured fifth place in the standings on merit. The match was incredibly close from the start. This was the case in the first quarter, although the home side managed to make a small push in the closing stages to finish with a six-point lead.
The great success from the three-point line not only helped Carlos Vila's team prevent their much more physical rival from breaking the game, but it was also the key to achieving a comeback and even having some advantage, although at halftime the hosts were still in control (45-42).
On a court where fast play was difficult, it was vital to have a good day on the outside shot to finish the season on a high note, and why not, to score a notable sixth consecutive victory that would demonstrate the good work done by the group.
The second half maintained the same tone. With both teams scoring less, Dénia Bàsquet managed to salvage the two quarters, fueled by five three-pointers that broke the home side's defensive strategy. It was a great season in which the team has clearly improved over the weeks.
With two rounds still remaining for many teams due to the DANA, the results of CB Sueca and Bàsquet L'Ollería could still see the Dianenses reach third place in the final competition.
