A route through the dianenses corners that marked the city during the Civil War

The Municipal Historic Archive of Dénia organized an urban route on Sunday for spaces of war and repression led by the historian Jaume Sau.

Leaving from the town hall square, emblematic places related to the historical period were visited: the convent of Las Agustinas, which suffered a fire at the beginning of 1936 from which, thanks to citizen intervention, the image of the Santísima Sangre could be saved; the House of the Marquesa Valero de Palma, expropriated by the CNT, which moved into the building; the tunnel of castle, shelter for aerial bombardment; the warehouses on Calle de la Mar, the old factory in Sahuquillo, converted into an arms factory, and the Marista school, where cells were set up in the basement for victims of reprisals.

 
The guided tour is part of the program of cultural activities "Fem memòria. Dénia, war and repression" with which the City of Dénia commemorates the 80 anniversary of the Spanish Civil War.
