02 March 2019 - 10: 42

Agents of the National Police have arrested in Dénia a young man of Romanian nationality of 26 years, who was allegedly involved in cheating their victims by purchasing mobile phones through the Internet. The total amount defrauded amounts to more than 3.100 euros.

The events took place in the middle of January as a result of five complaints filed in different parts of the Spanish geography, where the victims claimed to have been victims of a scam on the Internet when they intended to sell their mobile terminals.

The agents in charge of the investigation compiled all the complaints verifying the same modus operandi of the alleged author. This person hid his identity through a false name to commit the illicit.

The alleged author accessed websites for the sale of articles through the Internet and looked for mobile terminals for sale. When I located a high-end mobile I contacted the seller through the same website and then the communication between both was made through a mobile messaging application.

When the buyer and seller reached an economic agreement, the victim sent the terminal without having received the money deposit while waiting for the buyer to receive the telephone and expressed his agreement to complete the payment, which never happened. In this way the defendant always kept the phone without paying the agreed price.

The detainee accused of five crimes of fraud, a minor offense of fraud and another of misappropriation was placed at the disposal of the Juzgado de Instrucción de Dénia, which ordered his release on charges.
