04 June 2022 - 00: 15

The train from Dénia to Gandia will finally be a tram. Or that is what has been presented from the Generalitat Valenciana to the citizens. Although many people do not trust the project, it has been announced as a reality that will arrive in the coming years.

We tell you the keys and everything that is known to date about the railway connection from Dénia to Gandia that will unite the Marina Alta and La Safor, as well as the provinces of Alicante and Valencia.

When will it be operational?

The authorities have not wanted to get wet with a date to launch the rail service between Dénia and Gandia. However, they have offered an approximation, indicating that the infrastructure could be finished and operational in 2029, if the calculations are fulfilled.

What budget does the project have?

For now, the Generalitat Valenciana has confirmed that will invest 250 million euros for the drafting of the project and execution, with an approximate term of between six and seven years.

What will be the layout of the line?

Although it is yet to be defined, the route presented will have between ten and twelve stations along a line that starts in Dénia and ends in Gandia.

It is unknown where exactly the track will be located, but they have already confirmed that the old train track will be used at some points.

Where will it stop?

It is still too early to know the exact location of the stations in each town. Of course, nine municipalities are already known that will have one of the possible twelve stops:

  • Dénia
  • Hospital de Dénia - The Xara
  • Ondara
  • The Verger
  • Olive
  • L'Alqueria de la Comtessa
  • Palm tree
  • Bellreguard
  • Gandia

In addition to these, the possibility of putting a second stop in Oliva and one in the Gandia hospital is being considered.

What will happen to the coastal train?

Although the reception of the project among the municipalities involved has been positive, it has also been made clear that the infrastructure of the coastal train will not be renounced. They consider that the tram is compatible with the fulfillment of the promise of the train, providing a faster line between provinces.

You have to take down the web.

  2. Javier says:

Instead of the "tram" (very expensive architectural wall that will stop traffic with each trip) with this investment we could launch a network of FREE minibuses or at a very low cost without maintenance, more agile, electric, and with much more frequent passage without hinder. Of course, politicians are left without bribes or perks.

  3. Paschal says:

I don't know if the deadline will be met, but it will be built.
A tramway, compared to a whole railway, is a very economical project.
In addition, the greatest impediment that existed for the construction of a railway, has disappeared: the toll road.

The problem of the world can be summed up in this sentence: "Idiots are full of certainties, while wise men are full of doubts." We are governed by the first category.

    • Vicente says:

I believe that the Tram is the best and most viable solution, to solve the endemic communication problem that we have.
This Vegada grows that it will be a reality.
I have doubts if he will be able to see himself in 7 years, but I am confident that it will be far.
