Sergio Alberola and David Ribes two men of iron in the Ironman Lanzarote

El Ironman Lanzarote is one of the toughest of those held worldwide and represents the sports drama in its purest essence. A test in which a 2.000 men and women of iron give everything to cover, from seven in the morning until 00: 00 hours a day, 3.800 meter swim, 180 kilometers cycling and to top the task, a marathon of 42 kilometers of running.

This year the overall winner of the race was the American, Jesse Thomas, with a time of 8: 42: 33. The second place went to Jan Frodeno and the third for Britain, David McNamee. The first Spanish was Iván Raña which came in fifth place.

Canary lands marched up the two dianenses athletes, Sergio Alberola y David Ribes ready to meet the objective of completing the test. Alberola completed the race in 11 hours, minutes 26 7 seconds improving almost an hour while he made in the previous edition.

For his part, David Ribes complied perfectly with the challenge of getting to finish the test. He had the wise counsel of his friend Sergio and this helped him both mentally and physically. Ribes finished with a total time of 12 hours, 10 56 minutes and seconds.

In the swim course held in Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen, Alberola out of the water with a brand 58: 35. While David Ribes marked a record 1: 10: 39.

The real challenge for the participants came with the bike segment since the route took them across the island to a total drop of 2.551 meters. The strong wind made the difficulty increased. However, allowed athletes enjoy incredible views. Sergio Alberola time was 6: 21: 50 and 6 of Davir Ribes: 27: 00.

The last segment of the route was a foot race on a circuit that they had to do three laps, which took place along the seafront, Avenida de Las Beaches, in Puerto del Carmen. It was very hard due to the accumulated effort but it was where the triathletes noticed the encouragement of the public that took them flying to the finish line. In this segment, the time used by Alberola was 3:56:46, while David Ribes made a mark of 4:19:36.

Despite the great efforts made both already are beginning to count the days remaining to be present at the next edition of the Ironman Lanzarote.
