The memory of the IV Centenary of the expulsion of the Moors brought to Dénia, throughout 2009, a diversity of cultural events, exhibitions and even a Congress that was held last autumn, organized by the Institute of Regional Studies of the Marina Alta and the CEFIRE.
Now, to close this important event in our history, the Municipal Archives Denia has prepared a facsimile edition of an extremely rare work. Is about "The Duke of Lerma: Legend"A work prepared historian and reporter Valencia Vicente Boix along vacation he spent in 1870, in the summer house of the family of John Morand Bordehore in heading the Tossalet of Dénia.
The work of 26 pages is written in verse and tells the facts of the Duke of Lerma, fifth Marques de Dénia related to our city and the decision of the expulsion of the Moriscos.
Note that the recovery of this rare print was made possible by the donation a few years ago did Joseph F. Botella Sauquillo the Municipal Archives of Dénia, where is preserved the original from which to do the facsimile copy.
The Duke of Lerma: Legend will be presented on Tuesday, October 5, at 20: 30 in the Casa de Cultura de Dénia.
