The deadline to participate in the story and story contest for elderly people due to the coronavirus is extended

August 05 from 2020 - 09: 35

The Department of Policies for the Elderly has decided to extend the period for submitting originals to the 1st competition for short stories and short stories for the elderly until September 25. The works can be presented in person at the Mayor's office, located in the Social Center, from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. You can also choose to do it by email, sending the originals to majors@ayto-denia.es.

This first edition, convened last February and that due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19 has had to modify the deadlines established in the bases, is launched on an experimental basis for people over 60 who are students of the Classrooms of the Third Age of Dénia or members of the Retiree Home of the city. If the call awakens the interest of older people who have no relationship with either the Classrooms or the Retiree Home, the council will expand the spectrum of participants in the next edition to include them, as indicated by the Councilor for Policies in the presentation of the contest of the Mayor, Elisabet Cardona.

The theme of the works is free and can be written in Spanish or Valencian. The maximum length of the writings will be four sheets, written on a single-sided computer in 12-point Arial font.

The bases establish three prizes: a first, valued at 150 euros and sponsored by Carrefour; the second, with a value of 100 euros and sponsored by Radio Dénia Ser, and a third consisting of free annual registration for two workshops in the Classrooms for the Third Age for the 2020/2021 academic year. Later the council will inform of the date and place of the awards ceremony.
