Replacing the monolith homage to Roc Chabàs in the Jardines del Real de València after being knocked down by a storm

January 10 from 2019 - 11: 36

Valencia City Council has restored and repositioned the sculpture tribute to Dianese Roc Chabàs more than two years after it was torn down due to a storm.

Since the events happened, there have been many people who have urged the City Council to request repair from the Valencian town hall, such as the Councilor for Citizens Sergio Benito. After the repair, the councilor of Dianense Culture, Rafa Carrió, has been satisfied with the result obtained after his contacts with the Councilor of Culture of València, Glòria Tello, and has celebrated the replacement of the monolith in the emblematic gardens of Valencia, "City to which this cultural figure so important for Dianenses dedicated part of their historical research".

The sculpture of Roc Chabàs was inaugurated in May of 1929. It is the work of José Arnal García and was paid by popular subscription. It is integrated by a column of Ionic order of four meters high with a bracket in which it is read "Valencia to his historian Don Roque Chabás", crowned by a white marble bust of the historian, whose figure occupied a primordial role in the beginnings of modern Valencian historiography.
