Raúl García de la Reina: «We are going to bet on more minority sports and take a qualitative leap in the cultural proposal»

27 July 2019 - 00: 40

Since the 17 years he is part of the Pessic Cinema Club, he has done theater with the group Borinots Teatre, presided over the Flexió Verbal for five years and knows the cultural offer of Dénia "on the back". With this social curriculum, it is not surprising that he was entrusted with the delegation of Culture and Sports in the City of Dénia.

Raúl García de la Reina He was born in Gandía 43 years ago now, although it is true that he has been in Dénia for 42 years. He has a degree in Social Education and a tireless worker, either in his field or in areas as diverse as construction, gardening or hospitality.

García de la Reina is, since this month, the councilor of two of the great social areas of the City Council: culture and sports, a challenge that is being taken "With great enthusiasm, although I have many things to do". And first of all it is clear: "to learn".

The new sports councilor intends "Give more visibility to minority sports. Schools such as pilot, rugby or horse riding" They are not as well known as football, basketball or athletics.

In culture, the objective will focus on "study taking a qualitative leap in supply, because quantitative is very difficult", he says referring to the wide cultural offer that already exists in the city.

This is his first experience in municipal politics, although García de la Reina has been secretary of organization of the PSPV-PSOE, party to which it has been linked since Paqui Viciano suffered the motion of censure in the year 2008. It was precisely that fact, "that hurt my soul", the one who urged him into politics, "to restore the damage they did to him".

In short, a good person, but we have a councilor who is going to take charge of culture and sports from now on, but the first thing he has to do is learn ... shouldn't someone who can already contribute knowledge take charge of a council? Don't take it the wrong way Raúl, but you are the one who says you have to learn and run for public office without knowing, I don't know, how do you see it?
Increasing visibility of minority sports is good, but the great challenges of sport in Dénia, a pavilion in conditions to meet the needs of the next 30 years, what about that? I don't hear any politician talk about it. Only: "No hi han diners", but for other things there are. The Department of Sports needs people who are from the world of sport and who understand it. That Dénia's majority sport is Futsal and Dénia's top-class team is a Futsal team. In different categories. It is good to see minorities more, but the majority are the ones who practice the most people and you have to invest in them or find solutions that allow progress in these needs.
About his feelings for what happened with Paqui, I think that must be irrelevant to what is expected of him. There are many versions of why that happened alongside the resignation of Joan Ignasi.
I know that Raúl is very hardworking and will put a lot of dedication.
I wish him much success in his mission because his is the success of the people. I hope you learn quickly and that you will see progress in the area of sport soon. In the cultural field I think it will do very well from the beginning because if the amount of cultural events is good, improving quality can be achieved without economic costs.
    Luck Raul
