Quique Dacosta brings life back to the kitchen of the Ritz Hotel in Madrid

Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid has opened its doors under the creation and gastronomic direction of the chef from Dénia, with three Michelin stars, Quique Dacosta, and after the most ambitious and extensive reform in its 110-year history. The opening ceremony was attended by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the mayor of the city, José Luís Martínez-Almeida and the General Director of Turespaña, Miguel Ángel Sanz Castedo, who at the end of the event visited some of the gastronomic concepts with the chef.

“This reopening symbolizes the reopening of the sector, of travel, of flights. To come back to life. We already have 11.000 5-star hotel beds, to which we now add our beloved Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, which has been, is and will be one of the most luxurious hotels in the world ”, the president of the Community of Madrid.

After a brief presentation, the inaugural ribbon-cutting of the long-awaited hotel took place by the hand of Greg Liddell, General Manager of the hotel, James Riley, CEO of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and Pablo Bravo, representing Olayan Group.

The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida trusts that openings such as the Hotel Ritz will allow “to continue promoting the image of Madrid abroad as a tourist destination of excellence, to which visitors come attracted by the open nature of the locals, gastronomy, culture and shopping tourism ”, thus congratulating himself because“ Madrilenians can now enjoy gastronomy from the hand of chef Quique Dacosta ”, he stressed.

In this way, the renovated Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid will become one of the most innovative culinary destinations in Spain thanks to Dacosta, housing a total of five gastronomic spaces created and directed by the three Michelin stars.

“I am excited to see how Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid is open to the world today after five years of work. We have really charged batteries to begin this exciting journey in a city as wonderful and at the same time as demanding as Madrid ”, the chef commented excitedly during the inauguration event of the iconic hotel.

Dacosta is excited to see his dream materialize: "We arrived in Madrid with the utmost desire to contribute our grain of rice to the best gastronomic moment in the city," he concluded.

The five new gastronomic universes of the hotel will be complemented by the renovated rooms of the centenary hotel that will once again shine in all their splendor. The Royal Room and the Felipe IV Room, both with views of the Prado Museum, have been carefully restored to once again host the best family events and celebrations.
