El PSPV-PSOE of Dénia adheres to the celebration of the World Environment Day 2109 with the following statement:
Pollution is everywhere, although often it can not be seen. For example, in our homes, 9 of each 10 people around the world are exposed to levels of contamination that exceed the levels of safety indicated by the WHO.
Likewise, the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, declares our determination to guarantee the lasting protection of the planet and its natural resources. Specifically, the 14 and 15 objectives focus on the conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, as well as the sustainable use of resources. Today, there are 3,8 million premature deaths that are caused by indoor air pollution in our homes, mostly in developed countries. For every dead in car accident in Europe, there are 21 premature deaths caused by air pollution.
From the PSPV-PSOE of Dénia, we are aware of the role of local policies in this climate emergency, both as promoters and enhancers of them, as well as by their closeness to citizens, true protagonists of the necessary changes.
Therefore, our government program contemplates various measures with which we want to decisively influence a sustainable present and future for our society.
Measures aimed at mobility, with the extension and signage of dissuasive car parks, a Master Plan for the use of bicycles, improving public transport as an alternative to the car, the installation of electric charging points for cars or the subsidy of municipal taxes for what electric and eco-efficient vehicles.
But also, we have measures dedicated to raising awareness such as the declaration of agricultural protection areas of high landscape level, the reuse of water from the treatment plant for street and plaza cleaning, implementing processes for the necessary energy transition, starting with a necessary diagnosis and independent audit, the implantation of a pilot project of selective collection of rubbish door to door, a project of saving and energetic efficiency in the schools, whose protagonists will be the own schoolchildren, etc.
The fight against climate change has become a global priority, a challenge that we must all share and turn it into an opportunity for sustainable progress so that our city continues to be a safe place to live and work in peace.
