Opinion of Susana Mut, Cs spokesperson: "It is time to look for solutions and forget about predesigned roadmaps"

18 June 2021 - 09: 06

For the first time, Dénia has held a debate on the State of the City. Unfortunately there was no real debate, each group used their three turns to speak to express their own opinions without entering into an exchange with the others. It seems to us a good opportunity that has finally been lost. The debate has only been present in the name, but there has been no real interest in sharing and debating with the word.

Citizens regret the lost opportunity, we are a party of people who have approached politics to contribute and build and that cannot be done without a real debate. What was celebrated this Thursday was rather a series of monologues.

Each party has exposed its views on the current situation in Dénia, both at a political and social level, without deepening or debating. Considering how the political situation is at the national level, with enormous levels of tension, it may have been fortunate that there was no opinion on the proposals of others.

The economic and social situation created by the COVID pandemic has generated an emergency situation to which municipal leaders must be sensitive. We are talking about people, families, their livelihoods, in short, our society, our neighbors. Faced with this extraordinary situation, extraordinary measures must be taken, where people are put ahead of electoral roadmaps. Good governance also includes knowing how to set aside ideological aspects to make courageous decisions, and little, very little, is being seen of that in this government team.

Entrenched behind its absolute majority, the government of PSPV He confessed that they continue to apply their roadmap, without adapting it to the current crisis situation. This is very serious for the citizens and shows the lack of sensitivity of our leaders with the current situation. Unilateral measures such as the closure of the Calle Marques de Campo, in the middle of a home confinement as we were in April 2020, without consulting the neighbors, without consulting the merchants, without asking the sellers of the Municipal Market. We have heard repeated statements by Vicente Grimalt advocating not taking any decision without the consensus of all. From said to fact, there is a stretch, a very common practice in socialist rulers. It is only worth remembering what his boss in Moncloa Pedro Sánchez said about the pacts with the populists of the left or currently with the pardons of the politicians sentenced in Catalonia.

That same spirit, or rather the absence of spirit, we can also apply to an issue as important as the General Structural Plan. Dénia needs that document like water, we cannot be more than 50 years without urban planning. The arrival of investments and projects that help the city to recover economically depends on it. This is so, even though the government team insists on seeing businessmen and entrepreneurs as the enemies, the capitalists, without taking into account their effort and ability to generate jobs. The day they understand this situation, surely their ability to dialogue with social agents will be different, it will become more real.

One of the statements that most surprised us yesterday by the government team was that "99% of its policies would be perfectly assumed by any other political party in the city." It is very presumptuous to think that and it shows a lot of arrogance with respect to the other political parties. And if this were as the mayor says, Ciudadanos would carry it out with dialogue, consensus and everyone's contribution. That is not happening now, they apply their roadmap, whoever falls.

Now there are two years left in the legislature and the situation is exceptional, for that reason, yesterday we publicly proposed that Mayor Vicente Grimalt distribute powers among the 21 councilors of the Dianense corporation. The city needs to recover and this requires a government that applies its capacity to 100% in each of its powers. Ciudadanos makes itself available to that end, because for us people come first. First we must find solutions and then it will be the turn of electoral roadmaps.

A debate on the state of Dénia that is an excellent proposal, although this time it has been completely wasted.
