The Department of Addiction Prevention of the Dénia City Council has carried out four prevention and risk reduction campaigns regarding the abusive consumption of alcohol and other drugs during the summer of 2024.
The interventions, coordinated by the Community Prevention Unit for Addictive Behaviour (UPCCA) of the council, have been carried out in spaces of special relevance for young people in the town and holidaymakers.
The UPCCA in Dénia highly values the active and direct participation of 307 young people in the campaigns. It also values the involvement and collaboration of the 21 leisure venues that have participated.
The first campaign of the summer was “– Risks, + Fun”, which aims to provide information on substances of use/abuse, their effects and risks, as well as to influence the reduction of risks associated with consumption in leisure spaces. 21 leisure establishments in the city participated, and throughout the summer they had displays available to customers with copies of the Guide to information and risk reduction in drug use.
The participating venues have been: A Fer lal Mar – Botànic – The Girl From Yesterday – The Clandestine – County – Dorian Gray – Euphoria – Gaudí – Jamaica Inn – La Mar Serena – Mik Mik – Paddy O'Connell – La Plaza – Pal'Bailador – Sambori – Silenci – Sounders – Soho – Tema Bar – Zensa Beachclub – Zensa Lounge.
The Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the city council also collaborates in the initiative. the Marina Alta (AEHTMA).
Two other campaigns have been carried out during the Festival from Dénia, held from 6 to 14 July. For two nights, coinciding with the mobile discos in Torrecremada, the campaign “Do you drink? Measure it! With 2 fingers of forehead” was developed with the help of volunteers, in which a hundred young people participated; and the campaign “I choose with 2 fingers of forehead”, with the participation of 138 young people.
The latter went out on the street again on the night of August 14, in the nightlife area of Marina El Portet, with a total of 69 young participants.
