Mario Vidal (GD): «We must reinforce investments and services in all neighborhoods»

May 20 from 2019 - 00: 20

mario vidal is the mayoral candidate for Gent of Dénia, La Xara and Jesus Pobre. This Technical Architect by profession, municipal technician in the Els Poblets and Pego Town Halls for 10 years, has been working as a liberal professional for more than 25 years. Since 2013 and until this year he has been president of the Montgó Neighborhood Association and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Dénia.

Mario Vidal, like the rest of the candidates, responds to the Dénia.com electoral questionnaire.

Make an assessment of the legislature that ends

I think that, in general, the legislature has had its ups and downs. The current government has been fortunate to take advantage of the works of the Plan Confianza, with projects from other legislatures; although some of those that have carried out have big defects as it is the case of the Bus station.

Another issue is citizen participation, which has been null in all areas. Although the district councilors have had good intentions to do things well, they have not worked in the best way. Urbanism has been the most evident proof of this. They have drafted a General Structural Plan after having it done, without any consensus. They have paralyzed the economic activity during four years, blocking the norm of the Consellería (NUT).

On the other hand, the reduction of bank interest has led to an improvement in the local economy, with the possibility of being able to renegotiate loans and giving liquidity to the municipal coffers.

We cannot forget the gift fallen from the sky, The Gastronomic City of UNESCO, which they have managed in a remarkable way.

How would Denia change in the case that you govern?

I would make a Dénia with better services and an important maintenance; improvement of basic mobility and parking facilities. In addition, a plan to improve local commerce, essential for the perfect functioning of the economy, is essential.

On the other hand, investments and services must be reinforced in all neighborhoods and work with associations and companies to increase the seasonality of tourism. It would also carry out the execution of a second residence and another retirement home.

What are the main strategic lines of your government program?

Gent de Dénia has a very clear program with solid foundations. For us, an equitable distribution by neighborhoods is important, that is, each neighborhood will have investments, services and maintenance in relation to the IBI that it collects.

We also need a neighborhood councilor, with responsibility, with budget, with area studies and needs.

We have to bear in mind that the General Structural Plan is deficient, since no area has been planned to be able to carry out a University Campus or a Technological Research Center, and we are convinced that this is a point to keep in mind for local evolution , with which, it is necessary to create public endowments so that they can be established in our city.

A strong point for Gent de Denia is commerce, and we are going to devote efforts to get economic parking in the center of the city, which will serve a nearby trade. Make information panels of companies that are in an area close to the area in which we find ourselves, facilitate and support initiatives of associations of traders, as well as streamline bureaucratic procedures to set up a business or the management of existing ones.

Creation and support of a second residence and a second retirement home, close to the people in the area where it was carried out, as well as support and encourage the creation of housing for the elderly with help service as another parallel form of care our elders.

Creation of a housing bank for more disadvantaged groups, negotiating with financial entities (bad banks).

A transcendent subject is civility, we must encourage the neighbor of Dénia to be more civic, and for this it is necessary to reach the schools with talks, courses and campaigns. Aided by neighborhood associations, courses for young and old will be taught.

And above all we will keep in mind the cleanliness and maintenance of green areas, ravines, sidewalks of roads and streets, something fundamental to take care of the image of our city.

Create a transport network with door-to-door service in the outskirts, with agreements with taxi groups that provide services to the elderly and young people. It would be carried out in places where public transport does not exist, without damaging the existing lines; and logically, work to make sustainable public and economic transport a reality. The much desired bus Montgó, has been an expense for the municipality of about 51.000 € in five months of service, and 3.500 coverage of people, that means a very high cost.

And, specifically, what would be your first action after taking possession of the mayor's office?

The first action is difficult to define, because it depends on many factors, but surely it would be to create a kinder administration. We live in a city with many foreigners and it would be great to create a municipal office for foreign assistance, with a defined timetable and languages.

Facilitate procedures for the citizen, which also speeds up the processing of the basics and that the citizen does not see the bureaucracy as something long and cumbersome. Therefore, it is necessary to improve access to the electronic headquarters, promote courses so that people know how to use it, and at the same time facilitate physical registration.

We can not forget to optimize departments and coordinate the tourism department with all the events that are organized by different entities, establishing a calendar.

In order to have the administration that we want, we are going to create a figure: Ombudsman, who will be in charge of helping, of managing all the problems of citizens with the administration; not only complaints, but formalities and study of deficiencies. If we have an agile, coordinated and efficient administration, we will gain time.

What differentiates it from the rest of the candidacies?

It is very simple and simple, Gent de Dénia is a local party that does not have norms imposed or marked by any superior entity at the political party level, it has always worked for the city, for its neighbors.

The party management system is that of weekly meetings, in which everything is discussed, discussed and decided by the majority. Something very similar to the way of working of neighborhood associations and the Federation itself, where a more democratic management system is applied and better applied to reality. That is our great difference, that we work for and for Dénia.

Do you think that the results of the general and regional elections can be extrapolated to the municipal elections?

If we take into account that Gent de Dénia does not go to the general or regional elections, and also has a good pool of militants and supporters, they do not tell us much about the results of the general or regional elections. Different ideologies fit in Gent de Dénia, we have militants from all the parties and their only goal is to work to improve Dénia

In what margin of councilors would your success or your electoral failure?

Gent de Dénia does not think of a number of councilors. For us, the failure would be that people did not understand or trust our project. We are convinced that we will have enough representation to decide the future of our city, but the vote is in the town.

What message would you like to send to the public?

A message of hope, like the campaign slogan Avant! amb il.lusió!That is the feeling that we have. We have involved people who are entering politics for the first time, but it is the same party that has worked for Dénia for 36 years. With many hits and misses, but with a renewed project to revitalize this city and create a modern city to return to the capital of the Marina Alta, which seems to be missing. VOTANT PEOPLE OF DÉNIA TOTS GUANYEM!
