25 July 2019 - 10: 09

The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, the Councilor for Culture of the Dénia City Council, Raúl García de la Reina, Director of Marina de DeniaGabriel Martínez and the sculptor Toni Marí presented the exhibition this afternoon Waterfront Sculptures. "Because of the number of sculptures we have been able to gather, I think we have achieved a very dignified exhibition and that it will be the first of many others", said Gabriel Martínez.

The sample, which can be seen at the Ribera Pier of the Marina and Tourist Port of Dénia, will be until the end of August. “The exhibition is part of a project that we started working a long time ago, to add another factor to the many that our area has, such as culture and art. We started by opening the art gallery and we have realized that many artists that we did not know are emerging and this is another step, which we hope will grow in quantity and quality, to offer those who visit us another perspective of the city ”, Martinez pointed.

For his part, the curator of the exhibition, Toni Marí, wanted to thank the support of the City Council of Dénia and the Marina of Dénia. “It is the first one that we started with modesty, but we want to offer the people who visit us, the cultural contribution. Here we not only have sun and beach, but also the art and surroundings of Dénia ”. Nine artists participated in the exhibition: Tomás Sivera, Juan Caravaca, Andrés Escrivá, Kiko Torres, Miguel Ángel García, Salvador Mollà, José Antonio Ahuir, Teo San José and Manolo Navas. In the next few days the official inauguration will take place, together with the presentation of a catalog and the awards ceremony. For this event, Santacreu Excavations have also collaborated with the transfer of sculptures and Malavita with the artists' catering organization.

The members of the jury, Modesto Marí and Nicolás Merle, also participated in the press conference. Also on the jury is Joan Castejón. “This is the first exhibition we do in an exceptional natural environment and with which we intend to give continuity. And, above all, give prominence to the artists of the region, both young and consecrated. Culture has to go hand in hand with artists and this is the best place for their work to be disseminated. We invite other sculptors to be part of this exhibition next year ”, said Nicolas Merle. In this regard, Modesto Marí has commented that "This is a very beautiful exhibition due to the challenge of your sculptures to challenge the sea and ships", adding that “Dénia deserves it artistically speaking”.

The mayor of Dénia has concluded the press conference thanking Marina de Dénia for getting involved in these projects "That give added value to our city". He has shown his pride for the City Council "That these initiatives exist and that people like the participating artists, get involved in these projects".
