The remains of the stranded ferry will be sectioned and recycled

Baleària and Ardentia Marine begin the remaining phases of the Pinar del Río fast ferry removal plan, consisting of the withdrawal by sections of the ship. Capitanía Marítima and Ports of the Generalitat Valenciana gave, at the end of last week, the approval of these works, in which the specialized company Varadero Vinarós, SL will also collaborate, which will be responsible for the treatment of the remains at its plant authorized recycling.

It should be noted that, thanks to the fact that the mooring system was reinforced in a preventive manner, the ship remains insured and its position has not changed despite the storm of the last week, something that allows free movement in the entrance channel to the Dianense port. The poor state of the sea, however, has deteriorated the stern section of the ship.

The work is now focused on collecting all the parts that, due to the waves, have come off the ship and are in the area of the breakwater. Once all these parts have been removed, the rest of the fast ferry will be sectioned with specialized machinery, for subsequent transfer and recycling.
