The marinas and tourist ports work to get more Blue Flags

09 October 2020 - 13: 57

Of the 688 Blue Flags granted this year in Spain, 98 were granted to sports and tourist ports. To try to get more marinas to join this international award, the Spanish Federation of Associations of Sports and Tourist Ports (Feapdt) has started a series of meetings with the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), an entity that awards the Blue Flags in Spain.

“The purpose is that the ports that have never considered opting for this recognition come closer and know the benefits that are obtained by receiving the Blue Flag. This award represents effort and dedication and from Feapdt, we are doing important work to consolidate nautical tourism in our country ", says Gabriel Martínez, president of the Feapdt.

According to Virginia Yuste, coordinator of the Blue Flag in Spain, “The collaboration with the Feapdt will help to locate those marinas that already meet the award criteria, which could be eligible for it. At the same time, the environmental quality of the ports will improve, which will have a positive effect on marine ecosystems ".

Feadpt and ADEAC have prepared a webinar, which will take place on October 15, with the aim of analyzing the criteria that all navies need to meet to be eligible for these awards. César Bordehore, Feapdt's scientific advisor, will also participate in this forum. "The Blue Flags help improve the environment and marine life and ports must be at the forefront in protecting the marine world," says Bordehore.
