The Dénia fell on penalties before the Recambios Colón, in one of the previous eliminatory to know what Valencian team will play the next Copa del Rey. The clash in regulation time ended with a goalless draw. In this competition there is no extension, so the five penalty kicks were directly thrown. The Valencians were more successful and Santafé failed its launch by Dianense.
It was the Valencians who carried the weight of the game, dominating but without creating too much danger on the frame defended by Maxi. The first occasion of the match came with a shot by Nico Reyes, who went over the crossbar of the goal defended by Maxi.
In Diego Miñana's team the direct game was chosen and that made it very difficult for the strikers to get clear balls. The strong wind did not help much in that type of plays either.
After half an hour of play, Dénia let go of his rival's dominance and began to be calmer when it came to circulating the ball on the central parcel. One of the few dianenses approaches to the rival area, carried by Panucci, César and Santafé found no auctioneer.
After the break for the teams to cool off the strong heat, came a great shot from Panucci that made the visitors goal shine, Joan. The play continued and Dénia scored, but the referee annulled the goal for offside. The break was reached with the initial score.
In the second half, Dénia started being the dominator of the game, locked his rival in his area although the goal Joan did not pass too many difficulties.
When the team was at its best Marina Alta, a good scare came for his defense, when Erik finished off a great assist from Granero, to which the Dianense goalkeeper, Maxi, responded with a great intervention.
Another great occasion for Dénia came with a shot from Keko to the launch of a side fault executed by Santafé. Diego Miñana's team continued to create danger through strategy plays, such as a foul thrown by Carlos Ribes Panucci finished, leaving the ball on one side of the frame defended by Joan.
The changes, and especially the physical of both teams, balanced the game even though it was already without any depth plays. The final score was reached with the initial score.
The tie was solved when in the third Dianense launch, Santafé threw by the left of the goalkeeper and Joan guessed the shot deflecting the ball.
It ends the convulsive sports season of a Dénia that achieved the title of champion, but that after was left without promotion to Third Division and without being able to play next season the Copa del Rey competition.
Now comes the moment of the social mass, which will be the one that must be pronounced in the Assembly that must summon the directive that presides over Juan Benavent functions.
