The winners collect their José Marsal Caballero Awards in their XLI edition

Last Friday, the Dénia Social Center hosted the José Marsal Caballero Awards gala, which was held normally again after two years in which it had to be adapted, or postponed, due to health circumstances. This prize awarded by Cadena SER recognizes the work of people, companies and associations of the Marina Alta in different fields.

In this edition, in the Society section, the award has gone to Tito Barona, for being an example of social integration. Person highly appreciated by Dianense society. He actively participates in the festive world of the city, as a member of the Falla Centro, commission of which he is honorary president, and of the Filà Walíes; as well as the sports world, without losing his smile.

He dedicated his prize to his family and his friends from the Fallas and from the filà mora. The surprise came when a video was played from the stage screen in which Emilio Butragueño himself, on behalf of the Real Madrid board of directors, a club of which Barona is a fan, congratulated him on his recognition.

The José Marsal Caballero prize for Social Values ​​went to the AMUNT association against cancer, for its work providing information and psychological help to cancer patients and their families. This regional non-profit association supports sick people with few resources so that they have their basic needs covered, and carries out solidarity initiatives to raise funds for INCLIVA public research against all types of cancer.

The Dénia Red Shrimp International Creative Cooking Contest, on its XNUMXth anniversary, will receive the José Marsal Caballero award in the Tourism Promotion section, in recognition of its dissemination of the image and promotion of the city, the diversification of the offer tourism, and recovery of our ethno-gastronomic heritage. Consolidated contest, which has become a benchmark event for professionals and lovers of gastronomy, and especially of Dénia's red shrimp. The award, which was presented by Quique Dacosta, he picked it up Cristina Sellés, president of AEHTMA, and the chef Rafa Soler, the main promoter of the contest, who could not help but be moved when he received the recognition.

In the Culture category, recognition has been given to Raquel Martí, director of the UNED Dénia Associated Center, the first woman to hold this position in the history of the Dianense center. Under her direction, the Equality Observatory has been created, the first Chair of Equality and Agenda 2030, the UNED Dénia Social Fund has been created, the Quality Certification of the center and its extensions of Xàbia and Benidorm, or the establishment of the Student Seminar, among other merits.

The Sports award went to Ana Terencio, recognizing her wide and extensive career as an athlete, practicing different disciplines such as tennis or volleyball, and more recently swimming and cycling. In addition to instilling her passion for sports among her family.

In the Festival section, the jury has decided to award the FEMMICC, Federació de Moros i Cristians de Dénia, which has achieved the declaration of Festival of Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Moors and Christians, and contributing to the promotion of this festival and the tourist offer of the city.

Finally, the Pepe Miralles Regional Special Award has been given to the Clave Dénia SA company and its Ale-hop chain of stores, in recognition of its internationalization process. Founded in 1991 by Vicente Grimalt, a native of Gata de Gorgos, it opened its first Ale-hop store in 2001. With the second generation at the head of the company, it has managed to open more than 250 stores in Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Mexico.
