The UPCCA of Dénia joins the prevention campaign 'This summer, touch'

21 July 2021 - 13: 16

From the Community Prevention Units of Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) of the Valencian Community, a special prevention campaign has been launched aimed at youth and adapted to the current times of health crisis due to COVID-19 and the resulting restrictions.

The message of the campaign, to which the UPCCA of Dénia has joined, is "This summer, play": it touches, more than ever, to be responsible.

During the pandemic, and especially during the months of confinement, drunkenness among youth decreased, from 46,2% to 25,3% in the case of men and from 41,3% to 22,8% in women . These figures represent a drop from 44% to 23%, on average.

However, the withdrawal of the state of alarm has put this progress in healthy behaviors at risk and once again increases the probability of risky consumption in leisure time.

Therefore, this summer we want to recognize the efforts of youth in this crisis, a sector of the population that has been deprived of community leisure options and relationships between equals, very important factors in adolescence. The relaxation of restrictions has made it possible for them to reconnect with friends and enjoy leisure time.

From the UPCCA it is recalled that the possibilities for fun are many, apart from alcohol and drugs. The bell "This summer, play" make visible those healthy and at the same time entertaining behaviors that we have rediscovered: sports, nature, long conversations with friends ...

Options that favor the development of young people by reducing the chances of risk, both of Covid infections and abusive consumption.

That is the challenge that the campaign proposes to the youth: live a good summer without alcohol, without drugs, with responsibility.
