The University of Valencia chooses Dénia to host the literary conference "Gifts, Literature and Territory"

The city of Dénia will host next weekend the IX Conference on Literature, Territory and Education, which this year is dedicated to the theme "Gifts, Literature and Territory" and pays tribute to the writer Maria Ibars.

The existence of the literary routes of Maria Ibars, one that takes place through places on the Montgó, with the title In the shadow of the Montgó, and the one that takes place along the Paseo de Les Rotes, with the title by the sea, has been key to the selection of Dénia as the venue to develop the meeting.

The conference is organized by the Geografies Literàries 3.0 group of the Department of Didactics of Language and Literature of the University of Valencia, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education of the University of Valencia, the Valencian Academy of Language, the City Council of Dénia, the IES Maria Ibars and the IECMA.

The Geografies Literàries group is made up of 40 teachers from different educational levels and territories and includes teachers from Alicante, the University of Barcelona, ​​the University of Vic, the Rovira i Virgili University, the University of the Balearic Islands and Florida University.

More than 100 people, including students and teachers, have already signed up for these conferences to talk and exchange experiences and studies on literature, women and the territory at the Dénia House of Culture from Friday, May 29 in the afternoon until Sunday morning May 1. Teachers, writers, scholars and students of the Marina Alta They will also participate in the sessions. Thus, on Friday afternoon, at 17:00 p.m., the inaugural conference will be given by the writer Carles Mulet, who will speak about the writer Maria Ibars, and Carmen Agulló, who will do the same about the teacher Maria Ibars. Roser Cabrera, Elvira Cambrils and Pepa Guardiola will also participate in a round table on women writers and territory (Saturday 30, 19:00 p.m.).

Dénia City Council, together with the IECMA, has organized literary routes through Les Rotes and through the city and the castle, so that the participants in the conference get to know the city and the places of inspiration for the writer Maria Ibars. In addition, the Department of Culture has scheduled the theater performance Rita Trobador, open to the public, by the company Esclafit Teatre.

The poster for the conference has been designed by the artist Joan Castejón, who wanted to participate in this protest proposal for the dissemination and recognition of women writers and poets.
