The beaches of Dénia will change their flags to avoid confusion between colorblind people

May 25 from 2022 - 13: 56

Traditionally, alert levels have been based on identifying colors that quickly and easily indicate what we are dealing with. In the beaches, also those of Dénia, the same has happened, with the colored flags being the main indicator of the surveillance and relief services to prevent trouble. However, these signals are useless to a person who cannot differentiate between a dangerous red or a calm green.

The Dénia City Council, in order to avoid identification problems, has decided to replace its colored flags that we already knew with new ones that will incorporate an approved symbology. In this way, they will allow color blind people to be aware of the conditions of each beach.

These new flags will be placed at the eight lifeguard posts, while the proximity chairs and towers will maintain the usual ones. The adoption of the new information system has been assumed after the proposal of the Blue Flags as a point to improve.
