The Municipal Employment Bureau will base its actions on a study on the socio UNED system

UNED Dénia presented last Monday afternoon the findings of the recent study on the labor market, training and employment of the city of Denia, diagnosis and analysis that was entrusted to them by the Municipal Bureau of Employment and will serve to mark the lines of work to follow.

The main conclusion drawn the study is that while in the tourism sector training is appropriate in relation to the needs of the municipality (hotels and restaurants), have been identified unmet needs in other professional areas such as maritime activities. In this sense it is exemplified the need for a maritime exercise-oriented activities to the sector's development and training of qualified professionals for the management, conservation and protection of the natural environment and heritage restoration training.

And it is that tourism is the main base of the Dianense economy, so that the study reflects on the weaknesses of relying on such a volatile sector that depends on decisions and geopolitical strategies elsewhere.

Role of entrepreneurs

The study detects bad communication between the local business fabric and educational centers to coordinate in the promotion of employment, as well as a lack of information to companies about the training offer and the search for personnel. In this sense, the study recommends readjusting public job search services to the needs of the business community so that they perceive it as useful.

At the technological level study it has detected a weak level among firms, pointing to the need for training focused on commerce online, creating web pages, writing online content marketing and social networks. This training offer computer-related employment is a niche with good job prospects that can give impetus to the development of local companies inside and outside the municipality.

Study proposals

To improve these deficiencies, the study proposes several actions, among which are establishing strategic sectors, both stagnant and emerging, to be able to work with new lines of action in local development and their training adaptation; analyze the barriers and needs not covered in relation to services and professional training to care for dependent people and the new needs posed by the aging population; promote environmental studies for the protection of environmental heritage as an element of tourist value linked to local development; know the poverty rates in the Marina Alta and the actions carried out to alleviate them and study transport flows.

During the presentation of the study, the mayor of Denia, Vicent GrimaltHe explained that "It has to be useful to know where we are now and what impact the actions that the Bureau will implement will have". The event was attended by the director of the study, Jaume Tortosa, and Council of Finance, Paco Roselló, Employment and Creama, Eva RoundAnd Occupancy Policy, Antonio Losada, Who agreed on the need to continue this research work of the Open University and extend it to the whole region of the Marina Alta.
