The marine clean-up day 'Sweeping the seas' manages to remove 317 kilograms of waste from the Dénia coastline

A total of 317 kilograms of waste were collected from the coast and waters of Dénia during the marine clean-up day 'Barriendo mares', held last Sunday. Of this total amount, the majority was organic waste (95 kg); iron (81 kg); wood (52 kg); plastic (48 kg); glass (22 kg) and paper and cardboard (19 kg).

This clean-up of our coastline was made possible thanks to the response of citizens. 311 people signed up, of which 48 were divers and were in charge of the underwater clean-up. Nine boats also participated, collecting floating waste, and the rest of the volunteers walked along the coast removing waste. The section covered on foot was from the second stream of Marines, at the height of the Rosa hotel, until the end of Les Rotes.

In addition to cleaning materials, participants received a #VolMar (marine volunteering) t-shirt and a broom made from recycled material from other marine clean-ups.

The companies Vigar, Industrias Aura, Bottles Recycling, the Fundación Vigar collaborated in carrying out this marine cleaning day. Baleària, Pavasal, Marine World, Marina el Portet and the Pòsit de Dénia, which provided its facilities to house the base of the activity.

    Posturing once a year does not solve or reduce the huge amount of rubbish on the beaches of Dénia and elsewhere, that is the photo of the year to look good and say that they have done something, hahahahaha
