The Marina and Resort Marina Dénia hosts the IX Llaüt Mediterrani Liga Suma Regatta – 33rd edition of the Virgen de los Desamparados Trophy, which takes place on Sunday, April 10. “This regatta has not been held since 2019 and we were already looking forward to seeing them row. Our gratitude to the rowers of the Rem Club for the evolution of this extraordinary human team. Their track record as athletes is enviable and Marina Dénia is very proud to have them at home, so we encourage them to continue collecting victories”, said Gabriel Martínez, director of Marina Dénia.
As in past editions, the race course will be located on the Marina Dénia promenade, since it worked very well for both the public and the sailors. The sleeves will begin at 9 in the morning and end at 14 hours. The award ceremony will take place at 15:XNUMX p.m. and "we encourage all the people of Dénia to come and encourage our athletes so that this sport continues", said Vanessa Nicolau, treasurer of the Rem Marina Dénia Club.
Around 20 clubs from the Valencian Community will compete, representing 50 teams, divided into the Child, Cadet, Youth, Absolute and Veteran categories, both male and female. In total there will be 700 rowers who will cover a distance of 1.400 meters with three turns, the Youth and Absolute categories and Cadets, Children and Veterans 700 meters with one turn. “This year a team that comes from Cartagena has joined since this competition is not held in their community. This regatta moves around 900 people who will spend two days in our municipality”, commented Michel Letellier, vice-president of the Rem Club.
The regatta is organized by the Club de Rem Marina de Dénia, the Dénia Marina and Tourist Port, the Virgen de los Desamparados Festival Committee and the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community, with the collaboration of the Dénia City Council, the Local Police and Cruz Red Denia.
