The Generalitat rejects the creation of the cultural passport, so the drive-in cinema will close its doors

24 March 2021 - 14: 43

The Generalitat Valenciana has decided not to bet on the creation of a cultural passport to allow drive-in movie theater customers to return home after the session even though the night curfew has started. That is why drive-ins must close their doors this week, once we move on to summer time.

After a few days waiting for the decisive response from the Government, it has opted to maintain its restrictions as before without new exceptions. A refusal that causes the inevitable closure of drive-ins throughout the Valencian Community, which live off hours without sun to be able to screen their films. If the day is extended with the time change, these businesses can no longer show a single movie without breaking their clients, once the session is over, the night mobility restriction.

That is why the Drive in, together with its association, requested the creation of a cultural passport that would serve as a safe-conduct for its spectators and be able to keep their businesses open. However, the Consell has denied this appeal, so this will be the last week for the Dianense drive-in until it is decided to change the curfew, if they do so in time.

"With this response we are faced with a very serious situation and the possible definitive closure of all Valencian drive-ins if the state of alarm, and consequently the curfews, is prolonged in time (which is quite possible due to the uncertainty of the pandemic ) ", they point out pessimists from the Drive in. "We can only ask the administrations to propose a legal solution to avoid this situation, since they are the ones who create the rules".
